Well I’m back on java for the time being. So in order to get better at java I picked up Kent Beck’s new book. It’s kind of thin for $39. But it reads well so far. I’ll go over the implementation patterns when I get some time.
You really have to write Ruby to learn it. What should I write? I am thinking of a digg site or a shopping cart. Either one will help me learn Ruby on Rails. I did buy a new book called Build Your Own Ruby on Rails Web Application which shows you how to build a digg site. So I guess its the shopping cart.
I found this site so. Sounds interesting and maybe a couple of more tutorials I can do.
Finished the Programming Ruby and Rails for Java Developers Books. Finished a couple of tutorials and I am ready for the next book. Everyday Scripting with Ruby. I think it will be good to get some more examples of Ruby programming before I go to Rails.
I decided to try and do both. I finished the Programming Ruby book. This book explains the language of Ruby. I’m Almost finished with the Rails for Java developers. I will do this tutorial today then start working on some Java stuff later. I got 2 interviews for Java next week so I need to brush up on Java some. Hopefully I can do both without getting confused.
I have to start looking for a job. I was hoping to finish learning Ruby by this time. So do I go forwards or go backwards? Do I keep on pushing to learn Ruby or do I go back to Java. I know I can get a job doing Java, but I haven’t done Java in 3 months and I feel that I am losing Java. I either pick up Java again or forget it and continue with Ruby.
