How it all Started
Let me explain what led me this way. I am a computer programmer. I have been programming for about 25 years, first in COBOL and now in Java. The jobs has been good for so long, but now things are changing. The changes started about 4 years ago. I worked for a large health care company and times seemed good for programmers. One day the Director of IT starting walking down the halls and calling people’s names and just like that they laid off 66 people. I was one of lucky ones to survived, but many of my friends were gone. For the next year I watched my remaining friends get laid off one by one. The same pattern over and over again. First the managers tell you that you have a new partner from the overseas team. That’s when the offshore guy shows up in your office asking you what you are doing. After a few weeks that same Indian guy is sitting in your friends office and your friend is gone. You don’t say anything because you know sooner or later its your turn. My turn came the following year . It happened the same way as the others. I don’t know the name of the offshore guy who took my job back to India. It still bothers me when I think of all the people I know whose job were outsourced to India. That’s how everything started.
